The Council Chamber
This is the 'room at the top' of the Guildhall building, with a character of its own. It once served as the Town Assembly Room, and is now the scene of regular Town Council meetings.
Measuring 44 x 18 feet it has a handsome timbered floor, ample seating, a large oak table at centre and - its piece de resistance – a small minstrel's gallery!
The table,of course, can be removed and the seating re-arranged, as needed. This very bright room, with views of the Churchyard, is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies to take place, once the necessary arrangements with the local Registrar are made.
